Tis the season to be festive and take advantage of everything that is wonderful about winter!  When it comes to celebrating the holidays or a wedding, there is no better theme than a winter wonderland or festive rich red paradise.  Guest love attending events like this because it brings them together with family, friends, delicious cocktails, and warming comfort foods.  This year the hottest trends for winter wedding and holiday party menus’ include things like lobster bisque, stuffing turkey roulades, hot cocktails, stuffed winter squashes, and poached pear tartelette a la modes.  Here are several other ideas for your next winter menu!

Appetizer time during the winter is where you want to stimulate your guests’ taste buds but not completely fill them up.  Try serving bite-size morsels like min crab stuffing soufflé cakes, stuffed mushrooms with sausage, mini parmesan meatball, and Swiss cheese bacon fondue!  Whatever you choose to start off with, make sure you pair it with a great complimentary cocktail.  Winter beers served in frosty pilsner glass would be a great choice for any one of these menu selections!

Serving a soup is great alternative to the regular house salad you typically see at large winter events.  Winter soups are usually decedent and hearty and most people like them. It is best to serve an option of two soups if you wish to have one that’s cream, but if you choose something like a hearty broth based vegetarian rice soup everyone can eat. (Vegans, vegetarians, the gluten-free, and dieters included!)  Other great soup ideas include seafood bisques topped with a floater of John Walker, French Onion, butternut squash soup with grated ginger, split pea and ham soup, smoked corn and potato chowder, wild rice and mushroom soup, and Italian wedding soup… Yummers!

The entrée is really the main event at any party, so this year try to wow your guests with dishes like spiral pineapple ham, roasted eggplant parmesan moussaka, stuffed pork tenderloins, and balsamic glazed bison.  Classic sides like rosemary roasted potatoes, smashed sweet potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and savory rolls of plenty, will surely be the perfect compliment to any one of these truly delectable dishes. Don’t forget the cardinal rule of meal planning for a party: get an accurate of who has special dietary needs, and don’t skimp out on them, serves them an extraordinary safe version of what you already have planned.

Depending on the style of your event, you may want to stick with a cake for desert but that doesn’t mean you have to go the traditional route.  Winter inspired cakes, cookies, and cupcakes are a great option for any event theses days.  Either dress them up with silvery glitter and white frosting or go for themes like winter berry pie, caramel custard filling, cinnamon eggnog cake, pumpkin spice cheesecake, or bananas fosters!  Follow up the meal with a selection of seasonal liquors served with gourmet coffee and teas to complete the perfect winter wonderland feast!
